The Friends of Blue Mound State Park are looking to purchase an all-terrain chair or electric mobility device to help visitors with limited mobility enjoy the park. On February 25, 2026, board members William Van Haren and Jim Reynolds, along with Park Superintendent Kevin Swenson, visited with a neighbor and tested their Terrain Hopper – one type of all-terrain mobility device. Research is ongoing to determine which device is best for the park’s terrain and the needs of park visitors.

The Friends have been awarded the David & Joyce Weizenicker Fund for State Parks grant for this project. This $5,000 grant will help fund the purchase of an all-terrain device to be used in Blue Mound State Park. The grant program was established through the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin to support projects in the Wisconsin State Park System that facilitate accessibility for senior citizens.
