Sunday, March 1 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM

Friends and volunteers cleared the undergrowth from about one acre of degraded woodland. At a later date, some larger non-prairie trees will be removed. This includes the area adjacent to the upper walnut prairie. Thanks to all who came out and helped!

Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the mission of the Friends of Blue Mound State Park. We’re looking for volunteers to help with upcoming prairie restoration projects.

Call for Volunteers

Join us on March 1st from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. It will be cool and good conditions for cutting and treating brush and small trees. Wear safety gear (gloves, boots etc.) and certainly eye and ear protection for everyone. Bring loppers if you have them.

Upper Walnut Prairie is the beautiful open prairie to your left on Mounds Park Road before you enter the park.

Please contact [email protected] if you plan to volunteer.
